Our Founder

Charles B. Johnson III, P.E., LEED AP

Mr. Johnson has been engaged  in  contractor related services for over 20 years, specializing in the area of Heavy Civil and Industrial Construction. His experience has been varied with projects ranging from suspension bridges, moveable bridges, pre-stress concrete bridges, deep  foundations, mechanical piping/conveying to complex mechanical drive systems. 


Mr. Johnson has extensive  experience  in Industrial Facility Construction, specifically within  the  Mining  Industry  and Federal Service Markets. 


Johnson Contracting & Engineering, Inc. has been developed as a SBA small business serving the needs of these markets.

Construction Design/Temporary Facilities:

In conjunction with the project management duties performed, Mr. Johnson has extensive experience in the design of construction related systems, means and methods. These systems include formwork & falsework; earth retention systems; cofferdams; sheeting; crane loading analysis; structural steel erection and temporary shoring systems.



Construction Projects/ Project Management:

Mr. Johnson has extensive project management experience delivering projects ranging from $50 K to mega projects valuing in excess of $300 million. Responsibilities included supervision of project engineers, superintendents, foremen, and crew members; solicitation, selection and coordination of subcontractors; development and maintenance of project schedules, to include documentation for delays and claims; material procurement; management of project budgets; labor production forecasts and analysis; project safety management; project accounting & budgeting; documentation and negotiation of claims/changed conditions; and general administration of projects from award through final acceptance and closeout.


Industrial/Federal Construction:

Mr. Johnson has varied estimating and project management experience in industrial and federal facilities, predominantly conforming to ASME standards for mechanical piping systems and material conveyance. Much of the industrial work has been performed for the Mining Industry. Federal Contracting experience has been performed for multiple agencies at various National Laboratories and other government owned facilities.  Scheduling and adherence to project schedules has been paramount for these types of projects, with a high degree of dependence on CPM scheduling.


LEED AP:

Mr. Johnson is credentialed as a LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design - Accredited Professional), as administered by the US Green Building Council. He is experienced and  knowledgeable in the requirements necessary to aid a project in achieving LEED rating status.
